Makeover A Room in Your Home with A Mohawk Home Area Rug-Review and Giveaway

The Holidays are right around the corner and many of us are busy with our holiday shopping, cooking, baking and decorating our homes for when the family comes over on Christmas day. In the midst of this hectic time of year, Steve and I are not only preparing for the Holidays, but are working on fixing up our first home that we purchased a few months ago. I’m so excited to begin decorating the house. I absolutely love to decorate, so while Steve has been painting, I’ve been out shopping in search of anything and everything that would beautify our new home. However, I’ve had to put the brakes on things lately as we desperately need more important things, like new furniture and area rugs! One good thing about our house is that we have hardwood floors in basically every room and while they’re absolutely beautiful and easy to keep clean, I decided I wanted to find a pretty area rug for one of our rooms to give it a more cozy, warm and home-like feel.

As you may know, finding a pretty and good quality area rug can be difficult, especially when you find one you like and then you take a look at the ridiculous price tag. Lucky for me, I was introduced to Mohawk Home Flooring and so I thought I’d introduce them to you! As Steve and I work on our home, our intention is to make it very Italian-like. I envision the rooms being filled with warm colors such as reds, golds, browns and greens to make it feel very cozy and inviting. However, the house is still a work in progress and we haven’t gotten that far yet (still looking for new furniture and what not), but when I saw the Mohawk Harrington Midnight Pine area rug pattern, I loved it! I knew the 5 x 8 size would be perfect to bring some life to one of the smaller living rooms in my home.

Before I knew it, the rug had arrived at my door and I was surprised to see how well packaged it was. Sometimes, you never know how these big items are going to be shipped, but Mohawk rolls up the rug nicely and protects it with plastic to make sure it arrives in perfect condition. Also, after trying to pick up the rug and move it into another room, I immediately could tell the quality behind Mohawk’s rugs! This rug was heavier than I thought, but I grabbed Steve and he moved it for me.

The next day, Steve and I took the rug over to our house. We were so excited to unroll it and see the pretty Harrington Midnight Pine pattern in our small living room. The picture below is a “Before” of what the room looked like prior to placing the rug down.

As you can see, it’s a small room and we still have to do a lot to it (we’re still working on the kitchen), but I knew this rug could be a good start, especially once we have it painted, get some new furniture and add warm tones that are accented in the rug. This room is going to be beautiful, but the rug already brings it to life as you can see below. Here’s our “After” shot…

Steve and I are so happy with our new area rug from Mohawk and we’ve gotten so many compliments on it already! It makes our living room much more comfortable as we feel the soft carpeting of the rug under our feet and the pattern is absolutely gorgeous.
